I created a plug-in (WinBoard adapter) for Zillions, which allows to play against WinBoard-compatible chess and crazyhouse engines using Zillions GUI.

You can download the adapter in a package with two strong chess engines (GNU Chess 5, Faile) and Crazyhouse engines (Sunsetter, Sjeng) from my page http://www.geocities.com/andreas_kaufmann2000/winboard_adapter.htm

I developed and tested the adapter with version 2.0 of Zillions and don't know if it will work with the older Zillions versions.

This adapter is of interest for you, if you easily win Zillions in chess or crazyhouse and want to have stronger computer opponent. Additionally, some of chess engines (e.g. Faile) have nice opening books, which makes playing with them more interesting.

Very cool idea. I've added your URL to the other sites page.

I updated WinBoard adapter for Zillions on http://www.geocities.com/andreas_kaufmann2000/winboard_adapter.htm

Changes from the previous version:

Sjeng engine was modified to play Loop Chess. Loop Chess (the same rules as played on brainking.com) is a variation of Crazyhouse, where promoted pieces don't turn back into pawns when captured. The directory "Sjeng" contains ZRF for loop chess now.

Upgraded GNU Chess to 5.06 version (contains a number of bugfixes and improvements comparing to the version 5.02, which was in package before).

Position evaluation by engine is now displayed correctly. Underpromotion with capture in Crazyhouse is handled correctly now.
