Greg, you have forgotten to remove the Thumbs.db (WinXP system file) from every directory. Not that it matters, it's just unnecessary to download. (Hmm, I wonder whether it's possible to introduce collision-movement or bounce-movement.) /Mats |

Hi Mats, Thanks for pointing out the additional clutter in the zip file. I'm planning on an update so I'll make sure the 'thumbs' files are not included this time. [(Hmm, I wonder whether it's possible to introduce collision-movement or bounce-movement.)] I would certainly invite you to experiment with these ideas to see what they might add. Currently, I like the simplicity of the game although I'm definitely open to variants that allow additional movements. Along with your suggestions, another idea is to allow captures. That might add an interesting dynamic to balance off the tendency toward close proximity to the opponent in attempts to confine him. I've noticed that opponents will frequently follow each other around the board to do so. An incentive such as capture avoidance may offer a counterbalance. Easy enough to try... -- Greg |

The next update will include a variant called "La Mancha Duel" which adds the ability to capture. The threat of capture offers another dimension to the game. -- Greg |

To my surprise, the updated zip file I sent to Ed did not contain any 'thumbs.db' files, whereas the posted .zip file did (although it's since been corrected and to see this change, you may need to download it again if you were quick to get the update). What I learned is that when Ed receives an update, he unzips it ontop of the current version and then rezips it. This allows 'incremental' updates but also makes it harder to have an update remove a file. The solution is to include a note to Ed explicitly listing the files to be deleted. Also, make sure your zip file and folder names do not include any spaces or special characters (ZoG is hosted on Linux) as this could create problems too. I just thought I'd share this information with other submitters since it makes Ed's job a little easier if we all follow the 'rules'. -- Greg |

I did not realize Zillions was hosted on Linux. I don't know if I have used file or folder names with spaces. I will certainly avoid them in the future. Thank you for the tip. |
