Under the name "Jon Nelson (nelson.jon99@yahoo.com) a guy is spamming Zillions authors, falsely claiming that the Zillions site will be deleted etc. Also (in an other email which came first) he advertises (in very large font) writing apps for touch pads. First email: "... I recommend the ASUS 64GB Tablet Android PC, for stylus-touch gameplay of ZRF's, with new, next-gen computer boardgame apps from the ANDROID app store." ranting about writing games as apps" second email: Titled "The contractual re-moval of the ZoG website." "The ZILLIONS-OF-GAMES.com interface website is contracted to expire on Feb 27, 2015. The ZILLIONS interface will then be for-ever discarded, and lost. What are you doing to publish your games and your apps for both the APPLE iApp store, and the ANDROID app store?" Apart from being annoying, his false information is damaging the business of the Zillions company! I think that is disgusting. |

Well once "Jon Nelson" successfully ports Zillions of Games to both the iPad and Android environments, I think most of us would be happy to publish our games there! ;) |

He is not doing anything apart from annoying people and accusing them of creating bad programs (he claimed for example that he cannot understand a program I wrote. When I asked for details what exactly he did not understand he ignored my help). |

Hi. I do not know this Jon Nelson, nor do I in any way support his statements or his behaviour. I have to note, however, that some of his concerns are also mine. The last version of "zillions of games" was released 10 years ago (an eternity in software terms). I like it very much (over the years I re-bought it at least twice, due to changing computer, forgetting password, etc.) but nowadays the resolution and the old menus look out of place. However the real concern is that the programs written for windows 98 will become obsolete (maybe already with windows 8) and we will lose such a great resource and hundreds of contributions from many people. Yes, there are alternatives (Axiom, Gamecrafters, etc.) but the ZRF archive is really unique in its vastness. Also, I agree that moving in the app market (for iOS or android) would be a great move. The speed of the smartphones is approaching the computers of 10 years ago, and there is a request of app that play abstract games. Of course this is a business decision that pertains to the authors, but I can say for sure that I would be an happy customer. Best Regards. |

Maurizio, [However the real concern is that the programs written for windows 98 will become obsolete (maybe already with windows 8) and we will lose such a great resource and hundreds of contributions from many people.] It should always be possible to run Zillions on newer operating systems by running it within a Virtual Machine, e.g. http://www.vmware.com/products/player/ (which is free BTW) -- Greg |
