Sticks for Two by Karl Scherer can be played with sort of a pie rule. A turn in Sticks for Two involves placing two endpoints of a line. To use the "pie rule" the second player can be allowed to place the first player's first endpoint. This would only be done on the first turn. In human vs computer games this only works if the human is the second player. This alternative makes the most sense in variants where the first line segment is longer than 1x1. This is not a pie rule in the classic sense because a player can not switch sides. Partial control of the first move of the game by the second player does help reduce and advantage of going first. |
