Hello. I had a lot of problems running the game Jucata, until I realised that you NEED to have the "smart moves" option on. I thus modified the ZRF forcing the Smart Moves ON, as well as modified all the options with the new (option "....") format. Two question : 1) Can I upload the new version ? I don't know how to contact the original author, but I think that a version that always works would be better, especially for people with less patience than me. 2) The ZRF cites something like a "flipping" error of version 2 of Zillion and says this is the reason why it is written for version 1.3b. Is that fixes ? What was that problem ? Thanks in advance for any answer Ciao Maurizio |

FIRST, Please don't remove original submissions! I find that single v2.0 (option "Flipping") line is needlessly the sole cause of 90% of version 1.31 loading errors. Besides, how many users actually flip the board? Other than customized Mame/arcade sit-down cocktail tables, who would use it? |

That is a good question Maurizio. Since the smart moves can also be turned on from the menu I would just post that the game plays better with smart moves on and leave it at that. I think the question gets more interesting when you have a variant that changes the board setup or rules of the game. Some authors deliberatly keep version 2 options out of their zrf file to keep compatability with 1.3 users. I do not see the Jucata game you mention on the Zillions site. What am I missing? Ken, I don't think they remove games from the site even if the zrf creator requests it. I flip the board. I almost always have at least one Zillions based pbem game going. If I am used to viewing the board from the first player's point of view but ended up being the second player then I flip the board if the zrf and graphics allow it. |

Au Contraire! I know from experience that Zillions can and will remove a game from its web site ... only upon the *.zrf author's request. Generally, I have done so only when I discovered a game to be fatally flawed (which I explained to their webmaster). Notwithstanding, they do not advertise this fact since they do not like the useless exercise of creating and posting a web page for a new game and then deleting it. Be mindful that they can and will refuse to do so if this request is made too many times or too often. [This policy statement came straight from Ed van Zon.] |

Hi to all. First of all one mistake I did. The name of the game is YUCATA, not JUCATA. This explains why you had trouble finding it. The problem is that the game doesn't work at all without smart moves (there are positions with zero dimension). I tought that an inexperienced user could quickly lose interest in a game that doesn't work. I am stubborn and I tried everything to make it work :-) Anyway, probably a notice that the game needs smart moves would do, but the nice thing about version 2 is that it allows designer specify this, in contrast to rely on users (who usually are less knoweledgable). Finally, one last thing. Should we expect a new version of Zillion any time soon ? Maybe with a lot more games directly accessible from the start screen ? Just a wish :-) Maurizio |

Hi, I had a similar problem in my Butterfly game, which only runs properly when SMART MOVES is switched off. Jeff Mallet has aknowledged that this is a Zillions bug. It will be corrected with the lext update (hopefully out soon). |
