Chess with opening books.

Karl, the problem is that the cursor hand is too small, since the "book active signal" is so small. If it was bigger one could see what the alternative moves are as one can see when the hand opens up when the pieces can be moved. If you instead use chessboards with a margin (please use these if you want: chess8x8a.bmp and chess8x8b.bmp) then you can make the "book active signal" bigger and place it at (BA 400 170 440 210), for instance. Then the hand becomes bigger. I think I will use opening books in Bario because otherwise Zillions never starts playing chess.

Well, I had forgotten that one can see the possible moves anyway by pressing F7. Nevertheless, a "big hand" would be preferable anyway.

Indeed, I overlooked that the hand was small because it is sized according to the smallest position-area on the board.

I have now corrected the problem not by using a large margin or other board (I wanted to keep the looks and feel of the board as close as possible to the standard Zillions chess), but by using a little trick which authors might want to use in other such cases as well:

I extended the position's are to the negative:
(button -25 ... 5 ...).

The amended "Chess With Opening Books"
will be out when I have coded more opening books,
which might still take a few weeks.
(Note that the game contains 52 books already!)

Cheers, Karl

Sorry, typo: the text should read
"I extended the position's limits to the negative: (button -25 ... 5 ...)."
