To improve code efficiency in chess variants one can place an "aRook" in the initial position and add a "Rook" when the aRook moves for the first time. Then one needn't set the "never-moved?" attribute all the time. This also makes castling more efficient. One can also improve the en-passant move. Have a look in one of my chess zrf:s, like my latest Gustavian Cannon Chess (which is a good one, I think).
