Hi. I am designing a game where a piece may change type (, but not owner). It works, but it is hard to see which piece just changed type without turning on sound and continually checking game moves list. I suspect there could be a simple way to code for some image to appear briefly before being replaced by the piece of new type (using a dummy piece, say). I couldn't find it, though. Any help appreciated. Thanks. |

Instead of using change type you could use a drop or a capture. You would also use the option keyword to turn on animation for drop/capture whichever is appropriate. Perhaps not an ideal solution, but a solution nonetheless. -- Greg |

You could use change-type intermediate-piece and then capture. In this way the intermediate-piece will signal change type when it moves off screen. /Mats |

Neither sugestion worked. The standard Zog routine is (define flip-it (to (add something))) I tried lots of things to elaborate on that; either ZoG presents me with a window asking for further action, or the piece is simply captured, period. Could you please provide a code snippet that would do the works? Thanks. |

Hi Mohamed, a simple way to highlight a special position (in your case a position where a piece has changed type) is to create two little markers at the border of your game. See my game COLDICE for an example how to do this. Cheers, Karl |
