Zillions now is back to life in 2.0.1p and probably stuck in that version. But an old bug is back. The flip-board bug for my Quadlevel 3D Chess ZRF. Since I'm guessing they probably will not release a patch or anything this time to cover this (This time, they actually fixed it years ago). I wonder if I can do something in my .ZRF. My thinking is use a different board image in the flipped state. So the pieces are not off the mark. Zillions history of course had gone-on to version 3 at one point. Version 3 was a failure for me. The engine could not play my game as well as version 2. (Maybe others had the same complaint, I dunno... Sometime later, the creators abandoned the site, and it remained in limbo for years. Now it appears someone has taken the rains again. Good. finally.) |

I'm working on releasing a new version of Zillions with a modern Unity player (the MFC framework really shows its age). I'm just about there (for an alpha) but ran into unexpected build issues. [64-bit looks easy until it bites you.] The version is 3.0 from 2009.03.02. There are fixes in 3.0, but there's no way to tell if this is your bug. No, the old code does not build on modern tools. A patch is unlikely. |

but it has been like 15+ years for me. I can't remember how. Is it possible to have two different board-images (an image for flipped) an image for (non-flipped)? If it is possible, that would be another way to patch the issue. |

I am grateful for your efforts. Is there any chance this new Zillions will ever run natively under Linux? |

@Robert: flipping pieces, boards and positions is just a simple feature of the player. Different board image has to be set by the rules file, which I have not changed. @David: Absolutely yes. The aim is to support every Unity target, and that includes Linux, web and phones. Maybe not in v1. :-) |
