I have noticed that some game implemetors have created wonderful graphics for their games. I am struggling to produce a board and pieces that don't look dull. Please let me know what software you use to make your game graphics. |

I use Adobe Photoshop 7.0 because I have access to it. At $600 it is fairly expensive for hobby level use. Adobe Photoshop Elements does 80% of what Photoshop does for around $100. Both have fairly stiff learning curves if you are new to full featured graphics packages. As it turns out I enjoy creating game board and piece graphics more than scripting the games. So I would like to work with you to get the graphics that you want. Some good examples of my graphics can be found in QuadWrangle, Blobs Deluxe, Heximondas, and Shove-Off. I can be reached at Keith@Tsongas.com |

I know this message wasn't directed to me, but..... I've been struggling for producing a little more decent graphics for the game "Buffalo". Finally I've come up with something, which I already sent to Zillion, but maybe you can produce some better result with way less effort. Let me know if you are interested. Maurizio |

I would be interested in helping others also. Thank you for the opportunity Maurizio. You can send the graphics you have and your ideas to Keith@tsongas.com. We will work something out to your satisfaction. |

My creations might not always look 'wonderful' but I try not to leave them 'dull'! I just use a combination of MS Paint & an old (pre Win95 bloat-free) version of Paint Shop Pro 3.12. Then I usually take current pieces and adjust: sizing, color, (RGB), brightness/constant, and when I remember - a PSP feature to Blur or Soften their edges. Also, I've had the best success when using the board's color as a piece's background first - then substitute all-Green 255. Otherwise, I usually see a slight Dark/Lite green ringing around the pieces during play. |

I use Ultimate Paint and UFX to create some of my game graphics. Freeware and shareware versions are available for download at http://www.ultimatepaint.com . -- regards, Patrick Duff |

I use Paint Shop Pro 7 by jasc software... The Beveling effects are excellent for making simple pieces. |

I also use Ultimate Paint and UFX. I have a registered copy of the latest version of Ultimate Paint, but I also keep around the last freeware version, because it works better with some Chess fonts I've downloaded. It was the program I used for designing the Chess pieces I made from fonts. When I make a board, I place monochrome patterns over textures, make brushes of the resulting images, then use these to piece together a board. Some of my textures are computer generated, using the various special effects available with Ultimate Paint and UFX. Other textures are based on images of marble and wood I've downloaded from websites. I've also used textures for Chinese Chess pieces. |
