I have this game I did called Sophia:
http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Fortress/7537/sophia.htm

Players have a set of pieces of one type with an additional attribute that changes. This attribute is a color. Each player has a certain color they win with and the object is to get 4 in a row on that color on pieces that belong to either player.

The first phase is dropping pieces (pieces can be dropped either color side up). The second involves moving them. During the second phase, a player can either slide one of their pieces one space adjacent, or jump over a piece of either player, flipping its color over.

This should be doable by Zillions, but I am just not that familar with the ZRF commands.

Thank you for your time...

Dear Richard

Using change-type may be what you need. If you define the piece as two pieces let's say whitestone and blackstone and have 10 white stone off board you could have an add-partial that does the change-type on the drop of the whitestone. Doing it this way would require that pass-partial be set. This might be a problem if the game requires you to make multiple captures like in checkers. Let me know the full rules of the game and we can figure it out.

Hello Richard,

I made a quick and dirty, straight forward implementation of your rules; a few parts are missing (f.e. if both players have a win-condition, then always the 2nd player wins).
You (and everyone who is interested) will find it
at http://home.t-online.de/home/guenther.rosenbaum/sophia.zip

Try it , change it - as you need !
Bye, Guenther

Thanks. I will tweak it. Anyone else want to try out out, feel free to. I think I will tweak the graphics (make board bigger) and make a few other modifications.

Guenther, I appreciate the work. I would like you to drop me some email, so I can credit you with the work.

I want to thank Guenther Rosenbaum and David Whitcher for both implementing versions of this game for me. I am in the process of getting Sophia cleaned up and merging the best of both their works together. I used a modified version of the graphics that are included with Zillions for the game. Hopefully I can get it up sometime next week. I do plan on having everyone credited with porting this over to Zillions.

I will say this about the game. Unlike Groups, Zillions plays a very effective game of Sophia. If you want a copy to test now, please send me some email.

Thanks Guenther and David for your help...

I had a daughter born of that name last month (December), so I'm often in the process of getting Sophia cleaned up as well!
