I'm implementing a game played in a sparsely populated 3D grid. The grid may be up to 31x31x31 but only about 1/8th of the points will be valid playing points. Is it more efficient to: 1. Specify the array as a grid and kill the unused points; or 2. Specify each valid point individually. Option 1 is much easier in terms of programming (individually specifying thousands of links would be a nightmare) but will all those killed points slow things down? Thanks, Cameron |

I'd go for the easier-to-program option, especially as you're talking about tens of thousands of positions. The killed points shouldn't slow down anything in the game play. |
