Hello everyone, Sometime ago I submitted a game to Zillions and in an e-mail I even claimed at that time to know where the guidelines for making such a submission were to be found on the Zillions web-site. I now find that I no longer know where that is. As I am about to submit a second game, I would like to refresh my knowledge. Can anyone tell me how I can find the guidelines? Thanks in advance, Ronald W Brierley |

I cannot remember ever having seen some. I suggest you download any game written by one of the most proficient authors to see how games are usually written. I assume the most commonly used and recommended format is a zip file containing a directory "gamename" with the following structure: directory "gamename" contains: - gamename.zrf - directory "Images" -- directory "gamename" --- (images) xxx.bmp,.... - directory "Audio", if applicable -- directory "gamename" --- (audio files) yyy.wav,... - directory "Solutions", if applicable -- directory "gamename" --- (solutions) zzz.zsg,... where indentations denote substructures. Also, you should add a screenshot (gamename_scr.bmp) and an icon (gamename_ico.bmp, max 120x172) to make it easy for Ed van Zon to create a web page for your game. These bitmaps can be stored amongst your other bmps or better one level higher, so they are easier to find. ............................ Make sure that the solutions refer to a relative address, not an absolute one: RulesFile=..\..\Gamename.zrf ............................ For your own protection, it is advisable to observe other author's copyright where applicable. In the game's history text, quote all authors whose material you have used (e.g. background graphics etc). Material from the Zillions CD does not have to be quoted. ............................ As for any other product you may ever publish, you should make sure that "gamename" is not a copyrighted product name already. I know of at least one Zillions author who ran into legal problems because of such on oversight. So check it out with Google first. Feel free to ask more questions if anything is still unclear. Cheers, Karl |

With the help I've received, I now realise that I had missed checking the User's Corner > Free Games help files called 'Share your Game' and 'Installation Instructions'. I thought I'd checked everything. Sorry for troubling you. |
