Hi, I am 4th year web design student currently doing a dissertation on the heuristics of creating a digital version of a board game based on a traditional existing "real" version. Can any one tell me where I can get tutorials on how to use Zillions, other than the ones provided with the software? If anyone has any opinions on this matter or would like to know more about my upcoming dissertaion get intouch for a chat at : 0304671@abertay.ac.uk or phill@phillrogers.co.uk |

I used to direct people to Jan Markmann's page. The updated URL he had no longer works, but the old page is at http://underworld.fortunecity.com/fifa/73/zrf.html. I want to say that there was another page with tips... also had some commentaries on Shogo problems that had been solved using ZoG. *shrug* Unfortunately, websites being what they are, they are like unto grass in the field which withers and fades. |

What's wrong with the tutorials in Zillions? They come with the free download together with several free games, some of which contain code which is easy to understand. /Mats |

I guess I'd assumed he'd already been through those. In my opinion, Zillion makes it easy to do a lot of basic moves, but once one gets into a non-standard move like having a piece go n spaces one direction, then n spaces perpindicular or only allowing a particular piece to be captured by another piece, it gets more difficult as seen in the sheer number of posts in this forum. |

Guys, I will post details of my dissertation proposal and how I intend to use this program, its features and the ZRF language within it. Suffice it to say I am looking to prove the existence of or create a set of heuristics that are based in the creation of digital versions of traditional board games. Any opinions/discussions are welcome and if anyone knows where I may be able to contact the design staff of "Zillions" that would be great. If they are "listening" please contact me. Phill |
