Any advice on how to create piece values to support a Stratego-like capture system? |

You could use the named counters I've posted under the topic "Utility Functions for Zillions of Games". Each piece would have its value stored in a named counter. Copy the attacker counter to a temporary counter and then subtract the defender counter from the temporary counter and test for zero, or whatever test makes sense for your game. But you'd have to do it all with no more than 32 flags. If you need more, you'd have to switch to some scheme involving dummy positions. |
