It is a big improvement to random moves that they are so much faster, and that the engine does not analyze the game anymore for these moves. However, it is not always ideal to have the random moves come nearly instantaneously, as can be easily seen in the game Cat And Mouse,. Cat And Mouse II and Cat And Mouse III. The game description recommends to switch Move Animation off because the random move were so terribly slow in Zillions V1.1. Now after Zillions 1.2 came out it is rather recommendable to switch the Move Animation on! However, depending on the number of cats (or mice), this might not always be the right speed either, because the animation of many pieces may take too long. Unfortunately, Zillions does not offer on option where a response time or time delay for random moves can be set. The usual response setting in the Computer Opponent screen is ignored for random moves. Therefor I suggest to add an option to the Computer Opponent screen that sets a delay for random moves in tens or hundredths fo a second. |
