It would be easier to share saved game files (*.zsg) if Zillions were more forgiving about the path to the rules file. In the current version, an absolute path is stored in the second line of each saved game file. If Zillions is installed in a different directory, the saved game files won't load. Or if your drive letters change, the saved game files won't load. Zillions should try to find the rules file on its own (relative to wherever it was installed), and rather than give up if it cannot find it, display a browse dialog to let the user navigate to it. Among other things, this would make it possible to include a library of saved games with a rules file distribution. And while I'm at it, I still want the ability to add comments to saved game files which would get displayed in the "moves list" during replay of the moves. One way I'd use this is to display the names of the players and when the game was played. There could be a user option to turn comment display on or off, or perhaps move it from the "moves list" to a pop-up text box. [Sorry you've seen this already. We're having some trouble with the discussion board.] |
