Directions in Relative to a Piece,
The directions would be the same for the piece
as it was for the board until say it was turned
with a turn command, the boards directions would
stay the same, but the Pieces directions would be
turned respectivly.

Directions in relative to what direction the
piece is moving. Opposite does the opposite
of a direction, but there is nothing for "Left of
the direction" "Right of the Direction" etc.
Currently, you could make a piece check two
squares to its sw and se when it moved north, but
its alot of work to make it check s and w when it
moves ne and all the respective other directions.

Obviously you think in chess coordinates only.
In general, there is no
"Left of the direction" "Right of the Direction" etc,
because Zillions allows you to connect any board position with any other board position and call it whatever you want.
Example: If in Chess the direction "x" connects
b3 with f6, what would "to the right of it"
mean???

The case is different for "opposite",
because if x connects b3 and f6, then
"opposite x" connects f6 with b3.
This works for any "direction".
(Strictly speaking, Zillions directions
are not "directions" at all, but associations)

I hope that clarifies the issue.
Cheers, Karl

One could specify what "Left", "Right", etc are,
What matters is that it is relative to the piece.
It was just an example *shrug*
