Suppose a move involves only dummy positions, or all of its strings are translated to "". At the moment, such moves show up in the Moves Played list as something like "5...". (I'm not sure if there are any trailing spaces, as those are hard to see on my display!) I'd like "empty" moves to be surpressed entirely from the Moves Played list. |

Or the move consists just of setting piece attributes. I'm a bit worried that this could lead to even more confusion than the current situation. The computer would appear to think and then nothing would happen (at least, as far as the player is concerned). And then if the player clicked the back arrow, would it take back the invisible move or would it go back a move on the scoresheet? What if you were already at the beginning of the game in visible moves, but there were some invisible ones before that? I don't particularly like the "5..." scenario either, but do you think the new problems that would be created by not displaying it have a good solution? |
