If I recall, there are already engines for Chess, Checkers, Go, Reversi and Go-Moku. I tried to understand the process of making an engine, but not being a programmer, couldn't make much sense of it. So while I realize it might be a pipe dream, it would be very nice to have generalized engines for connection games (to improve the play of games such as Twixt, Trax, Hex, Lines of Action, Gonnect, Y, etc.), goal / race games (that could be used to improve the play of games such as Backgammon, Senat, Pachisi, Camelot, Chinese Checkers, Epaminondas, etc.) and mancala games (although Zillions seems to play mancala games fairly well as-is). One other feature I would like would be "adjacent-to-friend?" as a counterpart to "adjacent-to-enemy?" Thanks for listening to my rant. Clark |
