I would like to see some method of finding which player owns a piece on the board. A multi-player game may be such that one player may capture or compromise the chief of the army of another player. There are two simple alternatives of game progression that spring to mind. Firstly, the captured chief and all the pieces of his army are immediately removed from the board and the owning player passes whenever it is his/her turn to move. Secondly, the captured chief is removed from the board and all the pieces of his army are converted to pieces of the capturing player, with the removed player passing any future moves. None of this appears to be possible if the various owners of the pieces cannot be identified. There are without doubt further considerations to be made to implement the desired actions.

You can identify who owns what, by defining attributes "PlayerA?" "PlayerB?" "PlayerC?" etc. and then make sure the correct attribute is set for each piece at the start of the game.

A runtime error is signalled to the current player when an attempt is made to move a piece belonging to another player. This is because each piece when placed on the board is a piece belonging to a particular player. Since the ZoG system already knows which player owns which piece I thought that this information might be made available to the programmer rather than requiring the programmer to duplicate the ownership information using attributes.
