I would like the concept of stalemate in the ZoG system to be reconsidered. When a player is in stalemate a draw is the result by default. A win or loss, by definition in the game rules, is an alternative. This is acceptable in two player games but in multi-player games it is not reasonable. In the well know 'real' game of Poker a stalemate occurs when a player has no more money. The game does not end but the other players continue. The stalemated player in effect passes on both the receiving of cards and also in the placing of bets. Similar possibilities should be available in ZoG multi-player games, but stalemate currently stops the game for all the players. |

>The game does not end but the other players >continue. The stalemated player in effect passes... If this is what you want, how about using: (option "pass turn" forced) |

I would like to be able to program some action(s) rather than to merely have one of the two options 'end game' or 'pass turn'. For instance, do something with the remaining pieces of the stalemated player. |

I apologise. Missing a turn does seem to be logical and adequate for a stalemated player. I have confused myself with the considerations that would be required when a player is checkmated in a multi-player game. Perhaps these problems can be left for a future discussion. |
