I was thinking today about how to make a 3D game appear, and it occurred to me that with enough care one could make a complete perspective image of the board as it appears from a certain viewpoint; and in fact, you could make a series of such boards, from the different positions of your head as you move left or right. Each board would have to have its own list of screen positions defined for each cell.

If Zillions had a button that could be used for cycling through the various boards, a user could play a 3D game and, in effect, "rotate" the board (or "move his viewpoint") to get a better look at the area he wanted to see.

One problem is that the viewpoints would have to be selected in such a way that no pieces could ever get "behind" other pieces, but that could be done, especially in games with small pieces like 3D tic-tac-toe. If it were possible to define the order in which Zillions paints the pieces on the screen, that would be even better: then the programmer could make sure the pieces "behind" are the ones that get partly shaded by the pieces "in front", and as the board "rotates" they would come into view, and so on.
