I would like to see human vs. human mode in normal non-network mode with a physically present opponent. My current impression is that you are only able to play the computer unless you play a network game. Two-player mode seems like such a trivial and obvious feature to support that I'm afraid I'm just missing where the option is in the user interface, but I've looked all over for it.

If there really is a way to simply play another human player not over the network, then it seems to me that it should be in a much more obvious location on the interface. Either that or I'm just a blind fool silly person, whom you may ignore 8^D

Otherwise, could somebody please tell me either how to play another human on the same computer, or tell me why this feature has not yet been implemented?

And, if it's not implemented, could a kind developer please implement it? Thankyou thankyou thankyou!

This would allow me to play friends when they come over to visit. It would also allow me to play both sides so I could set up situations that I want to practice on (in chess, for instance) and then activate the computer to play against me in the situation I specified.

Thanks again for the beautiful game programming environment you have built for us!

Ok, I just realized that I really am a complete fool and totally missed how to play without the computer turned on. It was not clear to me that I could select both color options in chess in order to play both sides. If I had carefully read the text at the bottom of the Choose Sides dialog box then I wouldn't have had to go through the trouble of starting this post thread. I have trained myself to ignore little text blurbs in most dialog boxes on the computer in general because most of the time their operation is clear to me regardless.

Did anybody else have trouble figuring that out, or am I just having a particularly silly moment?

Perhaps that part of the interface could be altered to more explicitly communicate who is playing what side of the game.

For example, the dialog box might resemble something as follows:

Select player type for each side:
White [X] Human [_] Computer [_] Network
Black [_] Human [X] Computer [_] Network
Red [_] Human [X] Computer [_] Network
Blue [_] Human [X] Computer [_] Network
etc.

Each possible side of the game has its own set of radio buttons that allows you to explicitly specify who's playing what. This would be a cleaner, intuitive interface that wouldn't require any explanation.

Of course, really this is just a nitpicking issue of low priority, however, when you guys do get arround to updating the interface, this would be an area that you might revamp.

Sorry for the pointless topic thread! Thanks again!

It has come up before. I think they posted and someone responded before they figured it out themselves.

I agree with your idea that it is unusual to choose more than one item from a drop down list unless there is an additional graphic object to indicate multiple choices like a check box. Your full list idea would work fine with two player games but would run afoul of all the possible combination for three or four player games (or more, there is a nine person version of pente).

I think it would be helpful to have a check mark box that gets filled in when a human player holds that positions. Maybe the text could be changed to say "human(s) are playing" instead of "you are playing".
