With more and more zrfs displaying more than one move at a time (like Wireworlds, Branches, Turing machine I and II, Backtrack,...), it is more than obvious that a variable delay is missing. This feature has become especially urgent since the introduction of immediate-response ?Random players. As nice as these very fast response-times often are, at the same time it is often desriable to slow the speed down to a certain (bit variable) degree. Best it should have both slide bar control AND numerical input. Isn't the next update due soon??? How about telling us a little when it will be out? Feels like a long time since the last update... Cheers, Karl |

I think it has been a year and a half since the last update. The problem is that Zillions is very much a nitch market. An update would probably not increase sales enough to justify much update programming time. Perhaps some simple things like always displaying the coordinates in the status line or allowing a designated cursor. |

I had started a similar 'Minimum Time' setting option for Computer Moves discussion - over three years ago. |

Talking about Zillions being a niche market... Could'nt it be possible to allow people to play Zillions game / solve Zillions puzzle (and there are lots of goods one of both categories) on a server while paying it with micro-payments? Can anyone please give some infos about the advantages/problems of micropayments? Maybe Jeff can insert some valuable thoughts here... maybe that can start something rolling in this direction (or is something rolling?) We here so little info coming out from you Z developer guys... Maybe some ongoing info would be nice now and then... ? And thanks for all the good work! Cheers, Karl |

On the niche market theme. While Z-o-G is a very nice program, many people are not into programming and creating games will be difficult for them. If you could offer the possibility to let games run from a "black-box", then individual game developpers could use a special Z-o-G version to release their own games on the market (with 'Powered by Zillions of Games' somewhere in the credits). This would be the same Z-o-G with custom games disabled and only the authors' game(s) working on it, and his own splash screens and info that sets it apart from the standard ZOG. Then this author can sell the game to his own audience, and split the revenues with Z-o-G. This would give you bigger sales and hence more icentive to develop ZOG further. I have some nice games I invented , but I rather won't release them as freeware. |
