I would like to be able to switch the (computer) opponent from standard play to random play
via a new command; e.g.
(set-nextplayer random true/false).

This should also convert a random player ?R to a
non-random player.

This is important, because it gives us a natural, simple way to let the player with the first move already be in random mode (this information has to be set up before any rule code has been processed). So one would start in "Chess with Opening Books" with ?White and ?Black as players and swicth both to non-random mode when the opening book is finished.

As we see, the new command would be very helpful for all cases where one wants to create an OPENING BOOK for ANY GAME.

My game "Chess With Opening Books" demonstrates how far the concept of Opening Books in Zillions can be taken at the moment.
However, the computer player can only be set random or non-random at the start of a game.
Opening Books are an example where one wants to
have a random play for a while and then (when out of book) the computer should play intelligently
as usual.

Cheers, Karl

I see many posts of the general form "I would like to see the following feature added to Zillions". It would be nice to hear from the Zillions team as to the perceived merit of these suggestions and whether or not a new release is in the works. Hey Zillions guys, are you listening?

While on the topic of user feedback and desired features. I would like to see the ability for game players to add comments about a game directly on the Zillions page for that game. Ideally even a rating system similiar to Amazon. I think it would help motivate game developers if they were to get some direct user feedback from those who play their games.

Having said that, I'm glad we at least have this discussion board to ask questions/share ideas.
