hi i'd love to see gammon on zillions but outside of using neural network programming I don't think the engine powering zillions would be suitable. love to see it though |

Backgammon and other Zclient games are comming... I don't know much about Zillions ability in Backgammon (because I am not a good player for that game). But you need to know that inside Zclient the game engine is into a DLL. And maybe inside that DLL we have a neural network. But are you sure a neural net is required to have a good gammon engine? If yes, why? any references? David GLAUDE PS: Keep watching this discussion group for announcement. ;-) |

Does anyone know how I can get an icon for this game to show up on the main menu? |

I believe it would involve editing the following file: C:\Program Files\Zillions Development\Zillions Demo\Rules\Select.zrf I would start by replacing one of the existing games with backgammon. Make sure you move the backgammon zrf files, sounds, and images to the appropriate folders with respect to the above path. I highly recommend making your changes to a backup copy of the Zillions installation. -- Greg |

If you want a quick way to launch Backgammon create a shortcut to the backgammon.zrf file. Double clicking the the shortcut will launch the game. You don't need the Zillions menu. |

He said "Nevermind" so why are you responding? (and why am I responding to your post as well?) Anyway... the original question said "main menu". I took that as meaning the Zillions selection screen, but I suppose it could mean other things as well. Nevermind. -- Greg |

I was giving the casual computer user answer if the real goal was an easy way to quickly launch the game and the main menu aspect was a guess about the easiest method. As a help desk operator I frequently encounter ... oh nevermind. ;) |

I cannot figure out how to use the doubling cube. Is it available? |

It is not. From the game history part of the help menu. "This doubling process can continue right up to 64, and this amount can be doubled or tripled depending on the score in the underlying game. These various scoring methods are not included with this script ...." The generic Zillions AI just would not be able to grasp the strategy of the doubling cube. It took masterful manipulation of the AI by W. D. Troyka to get it to play Backgammon well at all. |
