Wouldn't the Gipf-Project series of games be perfect for Zillions? It seems like it would be easy to program. I have "Gipf for One" (GF1). If you google "Gipf for One" you'll find the program and you can see how compatible with Zillions the game is.

I would be ecstatic if someone could program Gipf, Zertz, Yinsh, Dvonn and Tamsk for Zillions.

I just discovered a "Zertz for One", too. It has no AI, but there's an online version of the game that does.

I would like to see them done in Zillions too. But only if the creator Kris Burm consents as I would not want to undercut an active intellectual property.

I have implemented Zertz, Dvonn and Yinsh. You can find them at:

Sorry only Zertz is located at the Zertz Group. Check out this Yahoo! Group for the other two:

I am currently working on the coding for the game of Gipf. It's almost finished, I just have to take set aside a day for the completion of the task

Tamsk presents a difficult conundrum as it involves the use of time within game-play. Although a compromise might be obtained by allowing the passing of time denoted by each move. What would be the optimal incrementation?

I have immensely enjoyed the GIPF games you have created, interrupt27.

I can only find messages at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/zertz/ ,
but not any description of the game not
any indication where the Zillions version should be.

It's in the File section of that Group.

Who's been working on GIPF? we might need to compare notes.

Sorry, but I got as far as the graphics and the basic outline of the code. Then my hard drive developed brain damage and sectors starting dis-appearing.

I've not got around to re-constructing the Gipf implementation. Maybe I'll take a day or two and do this.

Any news on the implementation of GIPF?

I've reconstructed my previous work and ran into the problem which stopped my progress last time.

There is the potential of several GIPF pieces being present during an alignment and the player has a variety of choices. If there were, say, four GIPF pieces in an alignment, a player could choose to remove all four, or three, or two, or one, or none. And these choices can make up a large variety, choking a potential selection menu if they were present in a single move(possibly straining some of the coding limits of the engine). And if the selection was decided by several partial moves, the search depth of the implementation could be severely impacted and definitely hinder the performance of the Zillions engine.

Needless to say, I'm still musing on a proper solution. This appears to be the only stumbling block to the completion of this implementation.
