Could somebody do me a favour and test whether this zrf works on your computer. A Frisian enthusiast says that it crashes immediately, but I cannot reproduce the error. Frisian draughts. I created this zrf since Frisian draughts on the Zillions CD is faulty (the King makes additional captures after the move sequence has ended). It also ignores the rule that the King's capture takes precedence over the draught's capture when captures are equal. It also ignores the King's three slides rule. This, however, is a full implementation of Frisian draughts, possibly unique. Mats |

By the way, in this zrf I used that method of checking whether a piece type still exists on the board, which I mentioned earlier. I need to check whether draughts of one colour still exist, because the king's three-move rule is only valid as long as draughts exist. So in the draughts' move definition I simply added a move to a square beside the board, and gave this move lowest priority. Whenever I need to know whether any draughts exist I only call the routine 'defended?'. If the square is defended, then at least one draught still exists. Highly recommendable. |

Thanks. It seems like he had a zip-program that corrupted the file. He has fixed it now. Frisian draughts is attractive, I think. I'm not good at checkers games, but I can hold the fort against Zillions for a long time, for some reason. It seems like this game is suitable for amateurs, despite the fact that it's so combinatory. And it amazes what I learnt today, that it was introduced in Sweden by Mollberg, a famous drunkhead in 18th century Stockholm, who is extolled in Bellman's epistles. Anyway, now the Frisian draughts association "Dambûn Frysk Spul" will be pleased because, apparently, this is the first Frisian program with the complete rules. |
