I don't believe it's possible. Mats |

No. In order for people to enjoy your Zillions based creation they will have to own Zillions. |

I assume the real question being asked here is "Is there a way for others to play my game without having to purchase a Zillions license key?" I can think of several ways to answer this question. Most of my answers below are more theoretical than practical and not terribly useful, but if nothing else, it may serve to get others thinking about the possibilities. 1) See http://www.zillions-of-games.com/customdev.html. For a price, they will create a stand-alone version of your game and produce a CD. However, it is pricey and I doubt the Zillions developers are still interested in this type of work so I doubt this option is still available. 2) Wait for someone to develop a universal game system that can parse zrf files or develop one yourself. This is possible, but obviously not very likely to occur. I should mention that there is a defunct open source project where this was listed as one of the goals (see http://gtkboard.sourceforge.net/indexold.html and search for ZRF within that page). 3) Create a virtual PC image containing a Zillions installation that includes your game. Distribute the virtual PC image to others. I don't see why this wouldn't work although it requires that other users of your game have the virtual PC software. Few people would want to go to this trouble just to play a particular game. 4) Create a web server which runs your Zillions game. Distribute a customized client which connects to your server thus allowing anyone to play your game. Possible, but requires some effort. 5) Implement an Axiom version of your game and write a graphical client, customized for your game, that interfaces to axiom.dll. Alternatively, you could wait for a universal Axiom game client to be developed (it might happen someday). 6) I can think of one other way, but it violates legal and ethical considerations. -- Greg |

If the game doesn't require AI, then you can write the game - in Visual Basic and distribute it or - in Mathematica and publish it as a Demonstration in the Wolfram Demonstration Project, which I have done with a few games. |
